Romance scams typically targeting baby boomers and older generations are becoming increasingly popular on dating apps and websites, according to the Federal Trade Commission. Just last year, the FBI's Internet Crime Report estimated that Americans lost more than $650 million to romance scams. Bernard Kim, CEO of Match Group, spoke with CBS News on the growing threat of online romance scams carried out by people overseas. Match Group — which owns Match.com and Tinder — is the largest online dating company in the United States. Match Group did not immediately return a request for comment from Business Insider.

Ring provided Insider with a statement following a near deadly Florida shooting. An innocent women fled gunfire after a father-son duo responded to Ring doorbell alerts Saturday morning, officials say. Earlier this month, a woman says her mother took revenge on a package thief seen on Ring doorbell camera by pooping in an Amazon box. In October, a TikToker shared the repulsive way her mother decided to deter a package thief they'd caught on camera with their Ring doorbell. In a follow up video, Destiny says a different thief took the package, so her mom would have to "sh!t in another box," according to the caption.
A Florida father and his 15-year-old son were arrested on attempted murder charges after they shot at a woman who they mistakenly believed was trying to break into their home, officials said. The woman threw her car into reverse in an attempt to back out of the way, and crashed into a car behind her in the frantic escape. The teenage son heard the commotion and neared the car and thought “our victim is trying to back into him” and he opened fire, Judd said. Both Colonacosta and his son started shooting into the car as the woman sped away. The sheriff said neither Colonacosta or his son had criminal records until Saturday morning, adding, “our goal is for them to go to prison.
